Is this text message a scam?
Signs and what to do
Scam texts try to rush you into tapping a link or sharing information. The FTC lists common tricks, and most scam texts use at least one.
Common signs
- They say there is a problem with your account or your payment information.
- They say they noticed suspicious activity or login attempts. They did not.
- They ask you to confirm personal or financial information.
- They include an invoice you do not recognize.
- They say you qualify for a refund or prize.
What to do
- Ask yourself: do I have an account with this company, or know the sender? If not, it is probably a scam.
- Do not tap links or reply. If you think it might be real, contact the company using a phone number or website you already know, not the one in the text.
- Report it. Forward the text to 7726 (SPAM), and report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Then delete it.
